C1 - Name Numerology – Our Soul And Personality

Name Numerology
,
based on our birth name,
reveals one's soul and personality

What word has the greatest power in our lives? Our name!

Our name has a tremendous power for us, because its vibration is always with us. We constantly hear it when others call our name. We read it all the time in our e-mails and regular mail. We use it for signing in shops and banks ... By constant repetition the vibration of our name eventually acquires extraordinary power.

This can be seen when someone calls our name - we immediately respond, or at least we prick up our ears.

For ourselves, our name possesses great magnetic attraction. And for others, it carries a strong message about ourselves.

Name numerology says that it is not by chance that we got our name - this particular name contains our very essence which we are supposed to realize in this life.

We can get to know this essence with the help of numerology, by converting the letters of our birth name into corresponding digits. By summing these digits in different ways, we come up with different name numbers which can tell us a lot about ourselves.

NAME NUMBERS

Among the name numbers in numerology three are most important

The Expression number is a sum total of all the letters of full birth name; it shows our talents and abilities and our general direction in life. The Personality Number, a sum total of all the consonants of full birth name, indicates which characteristics we project to the outer world and how others see us. And the Soul Urge Number, a sum total of all the vowels in full birth name, represents the deepest desire of our soul.

Other name numbers of secondary importance are:

The First Letter in Name further clarifies our Expression Number, while the First Vowel in Name further explains our Soul Urge Number. Karmic lessons Numbers are the missing numbers in our birth name that represent our missing traits, and the Family Number explains the common energy and inherited patterns of our family.

CALCULATING THE NAME NUMBERS

In Chaldean system, the oldest system of numerology, numbers are defined according to the sound of different letters.  Click here to see the conversion table for converting letters into numbers

When calculating the name numbers, we use the full birth name with first name(s) and family name(s), as recorded in one's birth certificate. Abbreviations and appendixes, such as Jr. and Sr., are not to be used in calculation.

What if your name is written wrongly on your birth certificate? If your parents accepted this mistake and called you by your "wrong" name, then you should use this "wrong" name in calculations. If, however, your parents didn't accept the mistake on birth certificate and you grew up with your original name, then do the calculations with the original name.

If you were adopted and got a new name from your foster parents, then use your original name before the adoption. If you don't know it, then use the oldest name you can remember. But without your original name the numerology analysis will not be complete, because this name is the foundation of your life, even if you've never used it.

EXPRESSION NUMBER
-
how we express our self

The total of all the letters in one's full birth name is variously called the Expression, Mission or Life Purpose number by numerologists. Composed of both the vowels and the consonants, it represents the blending of our inner and outer selves. This number shows us who we truly are and what we must be in life. This is where we feel most comfortable and how we automatically act.

The Expression Number tells us what we do best, and, by extension, our inherent talents and career potential. We are naturally attracted to occupations that we resonate to, so this number can be a strong factor in our choice of a career.

The Expression Number also indicates how we deal with the outside world: our style of solving problems, getting things done, and negotiating with others to attain our desired purpose. We also play the teacher role through our Expression Number - because in our life we attract the people that require the attributes of this number so that they can further evolve.

Living up to attributes of Expression Number may not be easy, but it is our goal in the here and now, our life's purpose and spiritual mission. During the first stages of our life, we are usually more aware of our other core numbers, but when we manage to balance them, our Expression Number becomes more evident.

CALCULATING THE EXPRESSION NUMBER

To calculate the Expression Number, add up the values of all the letters or birth name and family name. Click here to see the conversion table for converting letters into numbers. Both the first name and the family name respectively are reduced until we get to a one-digit number (or a master number 11 or 22). Now we total the sum of one's first name and the sum of one's family name. This sum total is further reduced (if necessary) until we get to a one-digit number (or a master number).

Let's take for example the birth name JOHN SMITH:

J + O + H + N
1 + 7 + 8 + 5 = 21 = 2 + 1 = 3

S + M + I + T + H
6 + 4 + 1 + 9 + 8 = 28 = 2 + 8 = 10 = 1 + 0 = 1

3 + 1 = 4

PERSONALITY NUMBER
-
how others see us

The total of the consonants in one's name is known by numerologists as the Personality, Impression, Outer Self or Adapted Self number. As its names suggest, this number signifies our persona, the face we show to the world. It shows the vibrations that we project, how others see us, and the kind of impression that we make on those around us.

Since the Personality Number reflects the "first impression" that we give to others, it can help us better understand how people perceive us and the best way to initially connect with others.

The Personality Number represents those aspects of our self that we show at the beginning of our relationships with others. Eventually, once we gain their trust, we begin to disclose to them our inner self, represented by Soul Urge and Expression Number

The Personality Number is also a product of our fantasies, the world we create for ourselves in daydreams. Given enough energy, our fantasies become reality, because we tend to become who we think we are.

Because the Personality Number is a reflection of how others tend to see us, it can help us identify some of our talents and strengths. We're often blind to our own greatness. If several people tell us that we are good at something, we can take advantage of this ability. With time, we may realize that we are indeed quite capable in this area, and we may be content with this situation for a while. As more time went by, however, we may realize that this activity didn't fully resonate with what we really desired or felt motivated to do. This can be found in the vibration of our Soul Urge Number.

CALCULATING THE PERSONALITY NUMBER

To calculate the Personality Number, add up the values of all the consonants or birth name and family name. Click here to see the conversion table for converting letters into numbers. Both the first name and the family name respectively are reduced until we get to a one-digit number (or a master number 11 or 22). Now we total the sum of first name consonants and the sum of family name consonants. This sum total is further reduced (if necessary) until we get to a one-digit number (or a master number).

Let's take for example the birth name JOHN SMITH:

J + H + N
1 + 8 + 5 = 14 = 1 + 4 = 5

S + M + T + H
6 + 4 + 9 + 8 = 27 = 2 + 7 = 9

5 + 9 = 14 = 1 + 4 = 5

SOUL URGE NUMBER
-
our deep motivation in life

The Soul Urge Number is a sum total of all the vowels in full birth name.

Variously known as the Motivation, Soul Urge, Heart’s Desire, or Inner Self number, the vowel total shows what we want out of life. It reveals the emotional force that drives all that we do, and tells us what we really want to become or achieve. It shows our true motivation which strongly influences our life choices.

The Soul Urge Number is our dreams and our life passion. Because of the emphasis on logic in our culture, the Soul Urge often becomes the part of us that we pay the least attention. By suppressing this part of ourselves, we spend a lifetime doing things to just get by without knowing what we really want and what is truly passionate for us.

Imagine having a parent that understands your deepest dreams and supports you in directing that energy! It could save you much time and effort searching for happiness. If we didn't receive such support from our parents, however, the Soul Urge Number can help us connect with our intuition and start following our heart's desires.

The Soul Urge Number also gives us an insight into the values that we nurture deep within ourselves: what we find important, just, fair, etc. It is a very wise part of us. According to some numerologists, this number also tells us what we have been in previous lifetimes, the accumulated growth of our soul.

CALCULATING THE SOUL URGE NUMBER

To calculate the Soul Urge Number, add up the values of all the vowels or birth name and family name. Click here to see the conversion table for converting letters into numbers. Both the first name and the family name respectively are reduced until we get to a one-digit number (or a master number 11 or 22). Now we total the sum of first name vowels and the sum of family name vowels. This sum total is further reduced (if necessary) until we get to a one-digit number (or a master number).

Let's take for example the birth name LINDA JONES:

I + A
1 + 1 = 2

O + E
7 + 9 + = 16 = 1 + 6 = 7

2 + 7 = 9

Note: The letters Y and W are also sometimes counted among the vowels. Y is a vowel when there is no other vowel in a syllable (as in Lynn or Carolyn) and when it is preceded by a vowel and sounded as one sound (as in Hayden). W is treated as a vowel when it is preceded by a vowel and produces a single sound (as in Bradshaw).

FIRST VOWEL IN NAME
-
more about our emotions and motivations

First vowel in Name augments or mitigates the force of the vowel total or Soul Urge Number - it gives additional information about our emotional nature and underlying motivations in life.

The Soul Urge is one of the core numbers in our numerology chart, but is somewhat concealed. It is an important part of our self that we don't show easily and to just anybody; usually it is only known to our family and friends. The First Vowel in Name, however, is a small window through which other people also can gain a limited insight into our deeper self.

Since the First Vowel shows one's undisguised heart's desire, we can use it to gain a quick picture of the person we have just met.

It manifests differently depending on whether the vowel sound is long or short. The long vowel gives a more direct and forthright expression, while the expression of the short vowel is more muted

FIRST LETTER IN NAME
- more about our self

In birth name, the first letter has greater strength than the others. This letter has a strong influence on our name. First Letter in Name, which may be a consonant or a vowel, further describes our Expression Number (sum total of all the consonants and vowels in birth name).

The First Letter in Name is also called the Cornerstone Letter by some numerologists, because it represents the first element of our character, on which all the other aspects of our personality rest. Without this foundation, our other character traits would have no basis.

The First Letter in Name is also useful when we want to get a good initial impression on the talents and abilities of the person before us.

KARMIC LESSONS NUMBERS
-
deficiencies in our life

Karmic Lessons Numbers are digits that are missing in the letters of one's birth name.  Most people have at least one Karmic number.

These missing digits serve as a guide to the areas of our life and personality that may be lacking, and require our special attention. If we ignore those blind spots, life can have a painful way of making us notice them. This, however, can eventually spur us forward on the path to wisdom. When we develop ourselves in these areas, we will feel much more whole and complete.

The effect of a Karmic Number is alleviated if the same number appears at least once among one's core numbers (Life Path Number, Soul Urge Number, Personality Number, Expression Number and Maturity Number).

CALCULATING THE KARMIC LESSONS NUMBERS

To calculate the Karmic Lessons Numbers, we should write down the values of each letter of our birth name and family name. Click here to see the conversion table for converting letters into numbers. Then we check which numbers are included in our birth name. Those numbers that do not appear even once, are our Karmic Lessons Numbers.

Let's take for example the birth name JOHN SMITH:

J O H N S M I T H
1 7 8 5  6 4 1 9 8

We see that in the name "John Smith" the included numbers are 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. The missing numbers are 2 and 3, and these are the Karmic Lessons numbers for John Smith.

FAMILY NUMBER
-
the influence of our family name

The Family number in numerology represents the common energy of one's family – inherited patterns passed through generations of people with the same family name.

The foundation established by the family at birth and during early childhood is significant and must be taken into consideration as part of the whole person. When we gain better understanding of our inherited values and beliefs, it is easier for us to accept them and, if needed, overcome their restrictions.

CALCULATING THE FAMILY NUMBER

To calculate the Family Number, add up the values of all the letters of family name. Click here to see the conversion table for converting letters into numbers. The sum is reduced until we get to a one-digit number.

The example for family name SMITH:

S + M + I + T + H
6 + 4 + 1 + 9 + 8 = 28 = 2 + 8 = 10 = 1 + 0 = 1

MATURITY NUMBER
-
the power we can achieve in maturity

In numerology, the total of our birth date and birth name (Life Path Number and Expression Number) is called the Maturity Number. It represents a harmonious union of our two main numbers - it shows how the two principal streams of energy converge to fulfill the purposes of our true self. This number is of great significance because it gives a clue as to what our ultimate life purpose might be

The Maturity Number is also called the Power Number, Real Self Number, Final Opportunity, and sometimes Destiny number by different numerologists.

In small children, we can sense this vibration for a few years by noticing the way they act and by observing some of their personal interests. However, the early effects of the Maturity Number usually fade because the Life Path, Soul Urge, and Expression vibrations become more evident during the first stages of life development. But later in life, when we start to wonder what is in store for us and where else we may find happiness, opportunity and satisfaction, we should look toward the Maturity Number for guidance.

The Maturity Number indicates our abilities, yearnings, dreams, or desires that gradually surface between 30's and 40's, with its full force becoming stronger throughout our 40's and beyond. It encompasses those skills and qualities that relate to our true self and that we should try to develop within our lifetime. The Maturity Number's influence grows gradually, as it may not be noticed at first. Eventually, however, we realize that our outlook on life has changed.

Mature development is not about living out someone else’s idea of what we should be. It has more to do with honoring our own way of being in the world and moving from our own center, to give our own unique contribution to the world. Then we are expressing the full potential of our Maturity Number, which gives us inner fulfillment. The Maturity Number should be our guide to a meaningful, satisfying and happy life in our latter years

Maturity Number always stays the same, even if in course of life our name is changed.

CALCULATING THE MATURITY NUMBER

To calculate the Maturity Number, add up the Life Path Number and Expression Number. (Instructions for their calculation are in their respective descriptions.) This sum total is reduced (if necessary) until we get to a one-digit number (or a master number).
